The FCHS varsity boys tennis team defeated Lumpkin County 3-2 on Thursday to go to 3-0 on the season. The JV boys played Lumpkin and also won their match which puts them at 3-0 as well. Number 2 singles Mihir Kandarpa won his match easily at 8-0. The match was played as 8 game pro-sets instead of 2 out of 3 sets. The number 1 doubles duo of Cameron Hand and Dylan Brown won their match as well 8-5. Philip Kinneer clinched the match with the final win also at 8-5. The varsity boys play Apalachee at Central park on Tuesday which will be a huge test in the early season. Apalachee landed a birth in the state tournament last year and is returning many of their key players from that run. I look to see some extremely competitive matches from top to bottom as we hope to keep our win streak alive. Apalachee will be our last non-region match before facing Cambridge on March 1st.
