The Forsyth Central Lady Dawgs started their season off in fine fashion Saturday, winning their two ball games at the Peachtree Ridge Rumble at the Ridge Invitational. The Lady Dawgs defeated Cambridge in the opener by a score of 5-1 with Lauren Wall and Sydney Moroney contributing two hits and two RBI’s apiece. Grace Kiser also contributed a base knock plating two runners. The ladies were led on the mound by the duo of Kristi Brower and Emma Ohrstrom who scattered only four hits and allowed only one earned run.
The Lady Dawgs kept the momentum going in the second game as they took on a tough Evans team from the Augusta area. Lauren Wall stayed hot at the plate with another two hits and RBI and Sadie Waters got on the hit wagon with two hits and an RBI of her own. Waters’ defensive prowess in centerfield was also on full display. Mattie Smith contributed a big timely hit and RBI to help extend the Lady Dawg lead. As for presence in the circle, Bailey McCachren made it known she was ‘zoned in’ for the season. McCachren threw 5.1 innings allowing only one hit while striking out 11.
The Lady Dawgs are back in action on Wednesday, August 15 as they travel to North Gwinnett to take on another gritty Bulldog squad.
